guide to South Gippsland

the still water of the Tarwin River

accommodation and things to do in Tarwin Lower, Venus Bay and Andersons Inlet

Tarwin Lower

Apart from being the home of River Drive Motel, Tarwin Lower is where you'll find the local shops, the local pub, the local cafe, the local school, and the friendly locals. Located at the mouth of the Tarwin River, Tarwin Lower is just a couple of minutes outside Venus Bay. It's a quiet town with pretty sunrises, gorgeous sunsets, and loads of wildlife. This great little town has everything you need to cater for a perfect holiday.

If you're into fishing, the local shops have all the bait and tackle you need and it's just a short walk to the Tarwin Lower jetty or the numerous fishing platforms dotted along the Tarwin River.

Venus Bay

Just 5km away, whether by car, on foot, or on the free motel bikes (via the protected bike path), Venus Bay is your gateway to stunning surf beaches, Andersons Inlet, and Point Smythe. Take your time on the trip into Venus Bay for countless kangaroos (we've tried counting them), the odd koala, heaps of wombats, loads of birds, frogs, lizards, and the occasional snake (don't worry, they'll leave you alone).

If you need peaceful accommodation right near the beaches of Venus Bay, look no further than River Drive Motel! We'd love to have you come and stay with us.
