The Big Drift
Wilsons Promontory
The Big Drift is an enormous sand dune formation just at the entrance to Wilsons Promontory. The walk from the carpark is quite easy until you hit the dunes themselves which are steep and soft.
The walk rewards you with a photo worthy desert landscape and westerly views across the Shallow Inlet. Energetic people can ride boards down the steeper dunes but we'd recommend saving some strength for the walk back.
In quieter times you'll have this place to yourself but be careful. Signage is minimal and it's easy to get lost once you're in the dunes. Pack plenty of water and keep an eye on kids!
